Blackburn with Darwen Council today announced details of early proposals from a major re-think of all the services it provides as part of efforts to ‘make the best of less’ Government funding.
Members of the Council’s executive board are being asked to consider a number of recommendations as part of the ongoing reviews on July 8. The Council’s overall savings efforts to date add up to more than £5m.
Council leader, Councillor Michael Lee, said: “A major aspect of the planning work which we have been doing in preparation for funding reductions has been to take stock and look at how we do things. Our priority remains to protect the frontline services that our communities value and rely on the most.
“We are determined to be in the best shape possible to make more of less. To do this we need to make significant changes and implement them as quickly as possible or we are just storing up even more pain for later.”
