Darwen are through to the second round of the Vodkat League Cup after a convincing home win against Rochdale Town.
Only goal difference separates the two sides in the league, however, Darwen proved too much for Rochdale in this tie by running out 4 -1 winners. The game was more or less won by half time with two goals from Turner either side of a Perkins strike seeing the home side go into the break with a 3 goal advantage.
Rochdale managed to pull a goal back in the second half through Evans on 62 minutes but Rossi restored the three goal lead just 7 minutes later. The game ended 4-1 and the result should give the Darwen players some confidence going in to Tuedays home game versus Chadderton.
Although their opponents are sitting 4th in Vodkat League First Division, the home side can draw strength from the fact Chadderton have leaked an average of 2.5 goals per game so far this season, including 3 against Darwen in September when The Salmoners were narrowly beaten 4-3. Why not get yourself down to the Anchor Ground on Tuesday to show your support?
