Darwen Road Closure

The road leading from the main road up to Bank Bottom has been closed to traffic exiting the A666. Previously traffic was being blocked up in an already congested area when vehicles facing Bolton wanted to turn right onto the street.

It was also considered to be dangerous when vehicles entered the road when travelling in the opposite direction - forcing drivers behind them to brake suddenly upon realising that they were slowing down enough to take the turning.

Although this didn't add to the congestion as much as those turning right, a decision was made to close the entrance to the road completely.

Those wishing to access the car parks at the rear of the bank or Post Office will now have to do so via Bank Bottom, although presumably the NO ENTRY signs which make one of the car parks inaccessible will be removed shortly!
