Darwen vote YES for a town council

Darwen voters have given their approval for a town council. A disappointing turnout of just over 20% is perhaps the biggest news but 2378 voted FOR and 1725 AGAINST.

The low turnout is possibly due to Blackburn with Darwen having the final say on the matter so many people believed their vote was irrelevant. However, it has been approved by local residents and the hope is that the council will listen to voters.

The vote was conducted to help Blackburn with Darwen council make their decision. Residents have been asked whether they want a town council and voted YES. Now we just need to wait and see what action is taken following the results.

Did you make your vote? If not what was your main reason for not voting?
