Do we really need half day closing?

Half day closing on Tuesdays was questioned in a meeting held at Darwen Community Centre. In the meeting it was suggested that there is a need for quality shops in Darwen to help attract shoppers.

If Darwen is to survive as a market town half day closing was just one factor to be considered along with market stall pricing, parking problems and pedestrian safety.

The meeting, held by Darwen Community Association, have asked for suggestions of the kind of shops people would like to see in the town. People have already expressed their wishes for a quality shoe shop, reasonable priced ladies and gents clothing, a well stocked stationary shop and a book store.
Please use this website to make any other suggestions on how the town can be improved. What shops would you like to see? How often do you shop in the town? What hours would you like to see shops open? Do you approve of half day closing on Tuesday? Would you like to see late night opening one day a week?

We will pass all suggestions onto the community centre.
